SPA Farma Ibérica was created in 2023 and located in Barcelona. It is the Spanish affiliate of SPA – Società Prodotti Antibiotici, an Italian family owned company established in Milan and founded in 1947 by the physiologist Rodolfo Ferrari and the microbiologist Carlo Callerio.

It was one of the first Italian companies focused on the manufacture of antibiotics. And in the early 1950s, with the scientific collaboration of Sir Alexander Fleming, SPA manufactured and marketed a new antibiotic, Lysozyme.

From the beginning, SPA continued its expansion into other therapeutic areas, mainly osteoarticular and cardiovascular. Currently the company also operates in the area of rare diseases and oncology.

SPA Farma Ibérica is focused on nephrology and more specifically in the field of rare diseases. The main object is to become a benchmark company for healthcare professionals in Spain.
